Blending PRB Coals with other Solid Fuels

Register Now

Webinar Summary:

This Webinar considers processes and consequences of blending PRB coals and bituminous coals, lignites, and petroleum coke. It assumes PRB coals as the base fuel for the most part, although blending with lignite involves PRB as the sweetener fuel. This webinar starts with the basic premise that blends do not always behave as the weighted average of the two fuels. It then focuses on managing fuel and ash reactivity for maximum benefit. It examines the methods of fuel analysis and fuel blending analysis including on-line coal analysis, it considers some of the combustion consequences, and considers methods to mitigate problems that can occur. It considers technical limits to fuel blends.
This webinar is based on our experiences both at Monroe Power Plant and elsewhere.

What you will learn:

  • Methods and uses for fuel and fuel blend analysis
  • Uses of on-line coal analysis with fuel blending
  • Methods for managing fuel and ash reactivity for maximum benefit
  • Some of the problems that can occur

Who should attend:

  • Senior Engineers
  • Fuel and Combustion Engineers
  • Unit Engineers
  • Corporate Fuels Personnel
  • Managers and Executives involved in setting fuel utilization strategy
