- Membership of the Users Group comprises individuals from
users of PRB coals as well as prospective consumers (generating
companies or industrial energy consumers). Associate members
from companies supplying coal, equipment or services are
also invited to participate.
- A governing board is elected by the membership consisting
of a chairman and up to six directors. Only one director
per company is allowed. Elections will take place every
two years.
- The board will form committees to study different industry
concerns and plan the program content for the annual users
group meeting.
- Membership is open to individuals for $100 per year.
This membership fee is deducted from the registration fee
for those attending the annual meeting.
- The Annual PRB Coals Users’ Group Meeting will be presented
in conjunction with the ELECTRIC POWER Conference and Exhibition
each year in the April/May time frame. PRB Coal Users’
Group delegates will be granted cross privileges to the
ELECTRIC POWER Conference and free access to the ELECTRIC
POWER Exhibition.
- The PRB Coal Users’ Group will recognize each year the
PRB Coal Plant of the Year for it’s innovation and
the implementation of “best practices and best available
technologies”. This plant would also be featured in POWER
magazine as one of their Plants of the Year and be inducted
into the Power Plant Hall of Fame. Selection will be made
by the board, with input from the membership. (For 2000
Alabama Power’s Miller Steam Generating Station has been
selected. This plant recently completed major modifications
using the best available technologies to handle PRB coals
safely. All four units, 720MW each, consume 12/14 million
tons of PRB coals annually as their exclusive fuel.)
- Regular industry updates will be made for members in
POWER magazine and on the www.prbcoals.com
web site.
- The TradeFair Group will act as the secretariat for the
PRB Coals Users’ Group, providing data base management for
the membership list, providing correspondence services for
the board members and organizing the annual conference.
All out of pocket expenses and an annual budget would be
approved by the board.
